Name: Avery Elizabeth Edmunds
Age/DOB: 7/14/88 / 23
Birthplace: Worcester, MA
Occupation: Veterinary Technician at All Paws Pet Center
Sexuality: Mostly Hetero, slightly flexible
Status: Single

Avery Edmunds was a weird sort of child from birth. As a baby she was a parent's dream, quiet, never crying, she just looked at the world through large blue eyes. Unfortunately, this quiet went from a parent's dream to quite the concern when the child didn't start developing her speech as she was supposed to. She was far past the point where most kids at least had down words like "Mama", "Dada", and "No" and still remained silent. It wasn't that the girl was unable to communicate. She actually seemed to express herself quiet well through pointing and gesturing and the like, she just didn't want to talk. The Edmunds even went so far as to take their child to a specialist to confirm there wasn't anything wrong with her vocal chords. They had no reason to be concerned however because one day Avery decided she was ready to talk. And from that point on...she didn't stop.

Avery was a bright girl which sometimes worked against her. She found it hard to focus in school and was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 8. Even now, at 21, she still take medication for it. Her natural smartness meant she never studied and her inability to filter her words often made it hard for her in a social sense. It was suggested to the Edmunds that they enroll their daughter in an equine therapy program, as horses were known to calm children with all sorts of "issues." The decision by her parents to actually do this ended up changing young Avery's life. Avery found that with animals she could relax, stop the word vomit, and generally just allow herself to be...herself. She found the same thing with the barn cats and slowly it was realized that the girl had an affinity for animals.

They allowed her a pet but only one, a cat named George Washington Carver. He was beloved to the girl and became her best friend. In the meantime, Avery began to read anything and everything she could about animals. If it was about animals she could sit still and focus on the topic at hand. Unfortunately, not all things she had to learn about were animals. When she was 10 she told her parents she was going to be a veterinarian and that she no longer should have have to learn about English and Social Studies and Math because those weren't needed to be a vet. She was shot down, for obvious reasons, but never grew out of her goals.

At 18 she started a Vet Tech program at a community college and did better than she ever had in school prior to that point. During that time she met a boy, an artist, and fell in love. When he got accepted to RISD following her completion of her Associate's Degree at Becker College she followed him to Providence. She was quickly employed by All Paws Pet Center and thought things were great. His parents had money and they moved in together into an apartment at Arcade Lofts. One day she came home early only to find him in bed with someone else. She moved out that night, stayed in a hotel for awhile before relocating to the more economical Southend Village Apartments. Since then she's spent some time healing and making new friends and getting used to being on her own. Her parents help her out as much as she can but now she dreams of, eventually, going to Veterinary School.
